Is the Robbins Diamonds billboard appropriate?  I can't stand driving by it and it looks like she's flipping you off and it's her ring finger.   Isn't there a more romantic way to sell diamonds??????

Hey Jen....I couldn't believe the billboard when I first saw it.  First off, advertisers want to grab your attention.  They did.  Second, they want you to remember their name.  You did.

Will it make you go out and buy a diamond from them?  Probably not, but you're not their target audience.  They are trying to reach that twenty to thirty something guy market who probably think the billboard is a riot.

Over in Europe, the advertising makes Americans look like prudes.  They used naked bodies, sexual innuendo, you name it to sell their products.

I personally don't like the billboard, but it definitely grabbed my attention.

Yep, have to agree, I haven't seen the billboard, and am unlikely to be offended by it, but I'd probably think it was clever, if a little childish, but hey, I'm not likely to go buy myself a diamond when I can barely make rent, so who cares what I think!  LOL

I wasn't offended by the billboard. I agree with Michelle's post. It does grab your attention and makes you remember their name.

I was in shock when I saw that billboard. I couldn't believe it. I think it is in very bad taste. You mean to tell me they are paying someone big bucks to come up with THAT? Come on, there have got to be better minds and more creative people out there!!

I was embarrassed . I know some of you aren't offended by this, but you have got to understand my virgin eyes were horrified. I can't even verbally speak the word "damn" without cringing that is how goody two shoes I am.  You can't change a zebra's stripes. Right? And I wouldn't want to change them anyway.

Awwww, ShelleyT....you are so freaking cute.  You virgin you.  And no, I wouldn't change a stripe on you.

I, on the other hand....with the opposite stripes as you, chuckled.  Sorry.  And, I can't change mine either...hehe.  No, I definitely wouldn't want someone to see that billboard and go out and buy me a diamond because it reminded them of me.  And, I did raise my eyebrows and do a double take to see "which" finger she was holding up.  However...I do think it will reach their "target" audience...those guys who think they're being "trapped" or "have to piss or get off the pot".  Those guys will think it's funny and perhaps go buy a diamond.  More power to the women that want "that" kind of guy anyway.  But, it always makes me grin when there is something out there clever and slightly shocking.  Hey...gotta find amusement where you can when your life is droll (at least currently).  Course, not much offends me....

Bastmom, that is why I love you. You are your own wonderful and bubbly person. I would not want a stripe changed on you either. I mean it when I say I really love who you are, your personality, everything about you that makes you unique. I love reading what you think and sometimes I wish I could be a little more like you. You are FUN!!!

Thanks for posting the picture..I have to tell you all though I understand the "giving the finger" distaste..my DH and I just laughed out loud when we pulled up the picture..Our niece is one of those girls, kind of impatiently waiting around for her boyfriend to ask..We think she should loose him!!! I just sent the link to her mother..and her :)

I too laughed and thought it was great. Then showed DH and he thought it was creative. The point that we are all talking about it means the advertising group who thought it up has succeed.
